The Pain of a Broken Arm
Pain and sadness are natural and temporary parts of being human. Suffering, however, grows when we reject pain and react from fear or frustration. That reaction can turn a moment of pain into something deeper: a sense of lost autonomy, a belief that we must appear strong, or a feeling of “why me?”
A Game of Two Halves
September 20th, 2007, was the last time I laced up my boots for the Women’s National Team. I didn’t officially retire until months later, but I knew that final whistle marked the end of an era. More than a decade later, I realize it wasn’t the end at all. The challenges I thought I was leaving behind only grew louder as I moved from player to advocate, coach, and parent. This isn’t just a story about soccer. It’s about accountability, courage, and the responsibility we all share to protect and uplift those who come after us.
